6500 Lives 5970 Minutes is a project that aims to bring more attention to the human rights violations present in Qatar in the lead up to the the 2022 Fifa World Cup. The centre piece of the project is the 2.8m scarf which aims to shed light on the 6500 deaths of migrant workers throughout the construction of the stadiums, the use of hand stitching 3250 ‘lines’ of white thread represents a stitch for every workers life lost.

The scarf is accompanied by a zine which uses scanned photography of the scarf, typographic entries and punchcard designs to tell the audience the story and context behind the project, in a way that the scarf alone can’t achieve.
