Siro Sans Display is a typeface designed to evoke the intimidating atmosphere of the San Siro (Milan, Italy) and the way in which the building comes alive as fans move around the cylindrical concrete stairways. The typeface uses high reverse contrast to explore the idea of unity and rivalry within the same space, given that the stadium is shared by the two halves of the derby della madonnina, AC Milan & Internazionale. The typeface aims to play on the feel and aura of the stadium whilst giving subtle nods to architectural details such as its cylindrical stairways which make the building appear to rotate as well as the building’s football heritage and importance in the sport.

The Typeface was designed as part of MSOA’s ArchiType brief in partnership with Dalton Maag and was exhibited at The Modernist in May 2023
